Charley’s Grilled Subs on Polaris Parkway

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Among Columbus home offices is Charley’s Grilled Subs. We recently tried one of their locations, on Polaris Parkway in the Polaris Lifestyle Community. Charley’s has over 370 locations, and not just in the United States. They maintain the same vision since the original 1968 Philly CheeseSteak numero uno: “To honor God and strengthen our neighbors. In the spirit of brotherly love, we hope to nourish hearts with the simple pleasure of a great Philly Cheesesteaks”.

Charley’s Grilled Subs has a special niche featuring premium and unique tasting grilled sandwich cooked in front of the customer, and served hot in less than 90 seconds. Every sub is prepared fresh upon order and made from scratch. No pre-grilling or pre-cooking. Fresh bread, quality meats, dairy cheese and fresh vegetables.

Adding to the Grilled Sub menu is their famous fresh squeezed lemonade and gourmet thick-cut french fries. Subs may be ordered from three selections; Steak, Chicken and Deli.

The Steak Subs include Philly Cheesesteaks, Philly Steak Deluxe, Bacon 3Cheese Steak and Triple Cheese Steak. Each comes with steak, grilled onion and provolone. The Chicken Subs are Chicken Bacon Club, Philly Chicken, Chicken Buffalo and Chicken Teriyaki. They all include chicken, bacon and provolone.  The Deli Subs are Turkey Cheddar Melt, Italian Deli Deluxe, Chicken California, Ultimate Club, Philly Ham and Cheese and Philly Veggie. All come with turkey and cheddar.

Gourmet Fries are available in Cheddar, Cheddar and Bacon, Ranch and Bacon, Cheddar, Ranch and Bacon and the Original.

Grilled Salads are Grilled Chicken, Chicken Teriyaki and Chicken Buffalo.

Our Philly Steak Deluxe was way above average for a Philly Cheesesteak. We give it five of five Philly ups. Our original lemonade was excellent. Lemonade is available as Original, Raspberry and Kiwi. And the Gourmet Cheddar, Ranch and Bacon Fries were more than enough to fill our appetite.

I’ve had Philly Cheesesteak in Philly, and they have nothing on Columbus’s own Charley’s Grilled Subs.

Craving for burgers means craving for Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Newly opened on Polaris Parkway, they offer a juicy, greasy, and simply mouthwatering burger. These burgers are some of the best in the country. Limitless on the toppings, this gastronomic adventure starts while watching your burger fresh made right before you.

First opened in 1986, the menu is now offered in over three hundred locations and twenty five states. Why the success? Just when everyone thought there were enough Burger options? Here’s the reasons Five Guys Burgers and Fries say they been so widely accepted:

1. There are over 250,000 possible ways to order a burger at Five Guys.
2. They use only fresh, never frozen, ground beef.
3. There are no freezers in any Five Guys locations, just coolers. Never frozen.
4. They use only peanut oil.
5. They use only Idaho potatoes.
6. Their entire menu is trans-fat free.

Voted the Washingtonian Magazine’s “Reader’s Choice” #1 Burger for each year since 1999, Five Guys continues to collect awards and praises in every additional location.

Walk in and scoop up some fresh roasted in the shell peanuts, always free, while you place your order at the counter. Each separate order is placed in a paper bag. No confusion as to whose sandwich is whose. French fries are hot and crispy. If you are a lacto-vegetarian, their veggie sandwich and grilled cheese sandwiches are a musts! Choose the “veggie” toppings you like and add your choice of cheese for your perfect burger.
Once you visit, you might become a fanatic. How do you know if your a fanatic?

You might be a fanatic if:

1. You know all of the fifteen free toppings by heart.
2. Your heart skips a beat when you see a grease stained brown paper bag.
3. The sight of foil causes you to salivate.
4. Your hand is tired from drawing intense comment card pictures.
5. You “look up” when trying to order at fine dining establishments.
